How to support someone using Innowell
How to help someone get value from Innowell
If someone you care about is using Innowell, you can play a real part in how they go. This is for parents, carers, partners and friends who want to help — whether that's offering encouragement, giving your own perspective, or helping someone who finds the platform hard to use on their own.
The gentlest kind of help
Often the most valuable support is simple: showing interest, making space for them to check in, and reminding them their answers are private and there are no wrong ones. Let them lead, and let it be their space.
TipA light touch works best. “Would now be a good time for your summary assessment? I'm happy to sit with you if you'd like.”
Being an Innowell support person
Once they've activated their own account, the person you're supporting can invite you as a support person. When they do, you'll receive an email from Innowell inviting you to complete a short questionnaire about how they're doing. Open the email and follow the link, answer the short questionnaire from your own perspective, and submit. That's all that's needed from you.
Good to knowYou won't see their private data or results. Your answers simply add your perspective to their summary, which they and their care team can see. Sometimes a carer notices things the person may not mention themselves, and that's exactly why your view is valuable.
Helping someone who finds it hard to use
Some people find it difficult to use Innowell on their own, for all sorts of reasons. With their agreement, you can sit alongside them and help them complete their assessments, or, where they're unable to take part directly, a support person's questionnaire can stand in so their care team still has a picture of how they're doing.
If you're a parent or carer of a younger person, doing it together can make it feel less daunting and more like something you're working through as a team.
Knowing when to reach out for more help
Innowell is not an emergency service. If you're ever worried about someone's immediate safety, contact local emergency services or a crisis line straight away. Within Innowell, the urgent help option (the “Need assistance immediately?” card on the home tab) opens an Immediate Help page with national health access lines that provide 24/7 support.
